Overview

The APP Educator will be responsible for preparing advanced practice providers through precepting, education and transition to practice programs. They will ensure safe and competent practices through evaluations and providing specialty specific education. The APP Educator will work directly with the Chief APP to ensure standardization of educational programs across the service lines. They will help develop specialty specific education to be able to address the individual service lines educational ongoing needs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for establishing and maintaining APP transition-to-practice programs.
  • Operationalize and maintain APP fellowship programs (if applicable)
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to uphold the latest clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Reports to Chief APP to ensure adherence to standardization and metrics.
  • Prepare advanced practice providers through training, mentoring, and precepting.
  • Ensure safe and competent practices by assessing competencies, conducting evaluations, and delivering specialty-specific education.
  • Develop and organize specialty-specific education to address continuous educational needs (didactics, simulations, etc.)
  • Construct and manage educational resources and tools.
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate practice programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
  • Integrate adult learning principles into educational programs.
  • Collaborate with the quality and safety team to ensure improvement in practice, meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain proficiency in the assigned role through direct patient care participation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, development, and accountability by engaging in professional organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with Chief APP to organize and create education, transition to practice and fellowships programs
  • Provide and coordinate clinical feedback and evaluations for APPs.
  • Facilitate the professional development of team members through educational courses.
  • Offer education to uphold ongoing knowledge and compliance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Promote evidence-based, quality clinical practice aligned with research, organizational, and national standards.
  • Collaborate with the clinical education team to implement ongoing professional development activities supporting daily work for APPs.
  • Maintain proficiency in EMR systems and educate onboarding providers in EMR utilization.
